The 2008 'away weekend' here in sunny Ashton-under-Lyne, will take place over three days and two nights, the 27th - 29th June 2008. Anyone wishing to stay longer than two nights is welcome to do so, but they must be before the 27th, i.e. between the 22nd and 27th. Everyone will be asked to make a nominal contribution. For those staying in The Stables, it will be £10 per night. On Saturday evening, there will be a 'gala dinner' - remember fancy gowns ladies! - in our house, and this is opposite The Stables. Everyone attending the dinner will be asked to make a contribution of £10. I'll be having two dressed whole salmon again, and our dear helper Phil will also be 'in attendance'. For those not wishing to stay in The Stables, there is an excellent 3* Best Western hotel just a mile away... rate approx. £70 per night per room - sleeping 2. Please RSVPContact Carolyn Blain to register. For more information, contact Carolyn or click HERE. |

The Stables is under half an hour’s drive from Manchester Airport, twenty five minutes’ drive from Manchester city centre, and only seven minutes away from the national motorway network. Surrounded by mature trees, the nine houses in the private estate of Westerhill are in a country park, on the edge of the Pennine hills. Westerhill was originally the home of the iron masters from nearby Park Bridge, the same family running the famous iron works for over 200 years. The old mill town of Ashton-under-Lyne has an extensive shopping centre with well known names such as Marks & Spencer, Boots, Next, etc., and is renowned for its 700-year-old market, open seven days a week. There is also an excellent Tourist Information Centre. |
