Sacramento, CA – January 1, 2009 - The American Academy of Dermatology has announced that the International Pemphigus and Pemphigoid Foundation is a 2009 recipient of its prestigious Gold Triangle Award given for its patient website, www.pemphigus.org. The award will be presented at the association’s annual meeting in San Francisco in March of 2009.
The IPPF informational website (www.pemphigus.org) was recognized for the second year in a row by the AAD for its ability to raise awareness in the public and professional communities as well as the site’s overall design and content. IPPF Web Administrator Will Zrnchik said, “This award not only honors the people behind the site’s design and development, but elevates the organization as a whole to new and exciting levels of patient support.” In 2008 the IPPF won its first Gold Triangle and four MarCom Awards for its websites and newsletters.
American Academy of Dermatology Gold Triangle Award Winners are judged by a committee of Academy members and chosen based on specific criteria which include:
- Raising awareness of dermatologic issues among targeted audience
- Creativity/originality
- Medical accuracy/quality of dermatologic information
- Enhancing awareness of the dermatologist as the expert in the medical, surgical, and cosmetic treatment of skin, hair and nail conditions
- Helping to change public perceptions of, or attitudes toward, health behaviors as they relate to dermatologic issues
