“There are over one hundred million people living with a rare disease around the world. Take down borders, for rare disorders. Show your solidarity today!”
On February 28, 2013 awareness is brought to rare diseases from around the world. Lots of people are joining together on this day to organize the events and activities by the slogan of “Rare Disorders without Borders” meaning that the event is now international. This event was created for people who feel alone because of the rareness of their disease so that they can meet other people who have the same disease and to feel like they are not the only ones.
To support Rare disease day, you can share your story with photos or video, join hands for rare diseases, tell others about the event by downloading a flyer or info pack, or search for events around your location.
In California, the IPPF will be visiting the State Capital on February 28, 2012 to promote rare disease awareness and research along with other local rare disease organizations. That evening, the IPPF will have it’s Town Hall Conference Call featuring Dr. Takashi Hashimoto from Japan.
The IPPF asks everyone to encourage your Governor by writing a letter or sending them an online request to make Rare Disease Day a recognized, annual event.
