Find a Doctor Directory – Start Your Search Here

The Find a Doctor Directory is a helpful starting point for patients, caregivers, and families looking for healthcare providers with experience treating pemphigus and pemphigoid. While the providers listed have been added by contact with P/P treating physicians, recommendations from patients, and referrals from other physicians, it’s important to remember that “knowledgeable” can mean different things to different people. What works well for one patient may not be the right fit for another.

This directory is not an endorsement, but rather a tool to help narrow your search. We strongly encourage you to research any provider you find here, or elsewhere on the internet, before making an appointment. The IPPF does not provide physician referrals to specific medical professionals. This content is for informational purposes only. Consider factors such as experience, communication style, location, and whether the provider understands and supports your specific needs. Ultimately, finding the right doctor is a personal decision, and this directory is just the beginning of that journey.

Please contact individual physician offices directly to find answers to your questions. The IPPF does not maintain specific information. This list is updated as we are notified of changes by the providers or members of our community.

Finding the Right provider for you

Finding the right provider can feel overwhelming, especially with a rare disease like pemphigus or pemphigoid. Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or are still searching for answers, this section is here to help you take the next step. Below, you’ll find guidance on how to ask for a referral, tools to help you search for specialists, and questions to ask when reaching out to new providers.

  • Ask for a Referral
    • Start with your primary care doctor or dentist. Ask for a referral to:
      • A board-certified dermatologist, oral medicine specialist, or oral pathologist who specializes in autoimmune or blistering skin diseases (AIBD), pemphigus, pemphigoid, complex or medical dermatology, oral medicine, oral pathology, and sometimes periodontology or oral surgery.
      • A university or teaching hospital, especially one with a dermatology, oral maxillofacial pathology, oral medicine department, immunodermatology, or dermatopathology clinic.
  • Use These Tools to Search for Specialists – Please note, other resources or physician finder websites may exist that we do not know about.  We are also not in control of the lists and information on the following websites:
  • Contact local academic medical centers and ask if they have specialists in autoimmune blistering diseases.
  • Connect with Us. We can often provide suggestions based on region or point you toward providers who participate in IPPF programs, conferences, or research.
    • Join one of our support groups and find out from community members who they see
    • Example Questions to Ask When Calling a New Provider
      • “Do you treat patients with pemphigus or pemphigoid?”
      • “How many patients have you cared for?”
      • “What treatments do you use?”
      • “Have you managed patients with autoimmune blistering diseases?”
      • “Do you work in collaboration with a larger dermatology team or university clinic?”

We know how scary and frustrating it can be to navigate a rare disease diagnosis. Whether you’ve just learned your condition’s name or are still searching for answers, we’re here to support you every step of the way — with education, resources, and community.
