Know Your Triggers, Know Your Power

Living with pemphigus or pemphigoid can feel unpredictable but identifying your personal triggers can make a big difference. For some of us, triggers can include stress, certain foods, illness, medications, and even changes in the weather. While everyone is different, learning to track/journal what might be affecting your flares can help you feel more in control.

The IPPF offers tools like our Symptom Tracker and helpful webinars to support you. Some people find that tracking symptoms and looking for patterns can help them better understand their triggers and feel more in control. If you’re one of them, start small and jot down what feels manageable and talk to your doctor about what you notice.

That said, journaling isn’t for everyone. For some, it can feel like an added burden rather than a helpful tool and that’s okay. Not all doctors will want to review what you’ve tracked, and not all patients find it useful. The goal is to support your journey, not make it harder. Use the tools that feel right for you.
